Amtico often loses its finish gradually rather than all at once
Amtico is one of the most recognisable names in luxury vinyl flooring, and for good reason.
It is practical, attractive and designed for real day-to-day living.
But even good-quality flooring can start to look disappointing when routine maintenance is no longer clearing what is sitting on the surface.
We are often asked to look at Amtico floors in kitchens, hallways and family living spaces where the floor still feels solid underfoot but no longer looks clean, bright or even.
Common problems we see with Amtico floors
These usually include:
- Dull appearance that ordinary mopping does not improve
- Residue left by household floor products
- Surface contamination in cooking and entrance areas
- Wear patterns in hallways and traffic routes
- Patchy or flat-looking finish in busy rooms
This can affect Amtico Signature, Amtico Spacia and Amtico Form installations alike.
The exact wear pattern varies, but the underlying issue is often similar: the floor has picked up layers of use and maintenance that standard cleaning is no longer dealing with properly.
Cleaning and replacement are not the same conversation
One of the biggest mistakes people make is assuming that a dull-looking Amtico floor must be close to the end of its life.
That is not always the case.
If the floor is still fundamentally sound, professional cleaning may be enough to improve presentation and make ongoing maintenance easier again.
That does not mean every floor can be made to look new.
It means there is often a worthwhile middle ground between ordinary mopping and full replacement.
When restoration may be possible
Where the main issue is residue, contamination or surface wear rather than structural damage, restoration may be worth considering.
That can be particularly relevant in:
- Kitchens
- Hallways
- Open-plan living areas
- Managed properties
- Homes where the floor has been repeatedly treated with the wrong products
We will always explain what looks realistic before any work goes ahead.
