Polyflor Cleaning Guide

Polyflor and similar commercial vinyl floors are used in places where durability, hygiene and practical maintenance matter.

You may see them in schools, clinics, toilets, corridors, staff areas, kitchens, offices and public buildings. They are made for busy spaces, but they still need the right cleaning routine.

When the floor starts to look dull, sticky, grey or patchy, the answer is not always “more mopping”. The issue may be soil, residue, old dressing, grease, surface wear or a process that is no longer suited to the building.

Why Polyflor floors become difficult to clean

Commercial vinyl and safety flooring can hold contamination in the surface texture, especially where foot traffic is heavy.

Common causes include:

• detergent build-up
• greasy soil
• ingrained traffic lanes
• old polish or dressing
• poor rinsing
• unsuitable pads or products

• agitating textured areas where needed

• changing dirty mop water
• dealing with grease promptly
• reviewing entrances and traffic lanes separately

Entrances, corridors and food areas often need a different rhythm from quieter rooms.

Polyflor cleaning should start with assessment.

If the issue is soil, grease or residue, professional cleaning may make the floor look better and easier to maintain. If the issue is damage, wear, compliance testing or product failure, cleaning is only one part of the decision.
